Skin Cancer Prevention and Diagnosis
We are able to manage and treat most skin conditions/lesions. If you have persisting lesions of concern, we encourage you to have a check up. Characteristics to look out for include, but are not limited to - irregularity in shape and pigmentation, changes over time and in some cases failure to heal.
New Zealand has one of the highest incidences of melanoma in the world and not all skin cancers are pigmented. Computer analysis of photographs of lesions taken at the practice, can be used to help predict with greater certainty if suspicious lesions are likely to be cancerous. This service is available to all patients at no extra charge.
Dr Shafiq Rahman has a special interest and post-graduate training in the treatment of skin conditions and can be booked via. reception for full body skin checks.
